Why owners switch.
We asked the daycare owners we build with what their current software gets wrong. These four problems set our priorities, and each one has a direct fix.
Check-in takes too many steps.
One tap per dog, or one tap for everyone arriving. A wrong tap is one Undo away, so the line at the door keeps moving.
Billing has to be fixed by hand.
A visit is billed when the dog is checked in, so families pay for the visits that happened, once. Credits and the running tab settle on each family’s billing cycle.
Recurring bookings are a chore.
Book a regular’s days once as a weekly series. Skip one Tuesday or change the days, and the rest of the series stays as it was.
Credit packs are an afterthought.
Sell packs of days. Each visit draws one down, and families see their balance every time they sign in.
Set up the way you already run things.
Every daycare has its own rules about deposits, billing and vaccines. In Barkyard each one is a setting you choose, and families see your policy when they book.
- A billing cycle for each family: monthly, weekly or per visit.
- Boarding deposits of the first night, a share of the stay or a fixed amount, refundable up to the cutoff you pick.
- Add-ons at your prices, charged once per booking or per day.
- Daycare capacity per day and kennels per night, with a waitlist when you’re full.
- Your required vaccines, your signed agreement, and a trial day for new dogs.
- Families who pay cash or by cheque can book without a card.

The Stripe account belongs to you. Every card payment shows in your own Stripe dashboard and pays out to your bank. Barkyard keeps the books around it: credits, the running tab, deposits and refunds.
