Who is Barkyard for?
Independent dog daycares and boarding kennels, especially small teams where the owner also works the front desk. If your day revolves around drop-off, pickup and keeping billing straight, it was built for you.
Can I sign up today?
Not by yourself yet. We set each daycare up with its owner, a few at a time. Request early access and we’ll get in touch to talk about your business.
What does it cost?
One plan: $99 a month per location, or $990 a year (two months free). It includes every feature, unlimited staff accounts, daycare and boarding, and setup and data import with us. Card payments go to your own Stripe account at Stripe’s standard fees. See the pricing page for details.
Can I bring my families, dogs and bookings from my current software?
That’s the plan, and it’s being built now. We won’t ask you to switch until your data can come with you.
How do payments work?
Card payments run through Stripe Connect. You connect your own Stripe account, and charges are made directly on it, so payouts go straight to you.
Families can also pay in person by cash or cheque. Mark them as paying in person and they can book without a card; record the payment and their tab clears.
How do credit packs and the tab fit together?
A visit is paid from credits when the family has them. Anything else goes on their tab, which is billed on the cycle you set for that family: monthly, weekly or per visit. Add-ons always go on the tab. Nothing is billed until the dog is actually checked in.
What happens if a family cancels?
Cancelling is free for now. Cancellation and no-show fees aren’t built yet. Boarding deposits follow the refund cutoff you set.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. Barkyard runs in the browser on phones, tablets and laptops. Check-in is designed for a phone at the door; billing and settings are comfortable on a laptop.
How do families get reminders?
By email, the day before each booking. They can also add bookings to Apple, Google or Outlook Calendar, or subscribe to a private calendar link. Barkyard doesn’t send text messages yet.
Can my staff see billing?
No. Staff can run the day, check dogs in and out and book for families. Billing, refunds and invoices need owner permission.
How do you handle vaccine records?
You choose which vaccines are required. Families upload proof against each dog, and a dog can’t be booked until its records are current and your agreement is signed.
